Another great win for the Pythons

Pythons made their way to Lee Valley this past Sunday for their first away game this season.

A very quick up from the Vampires at the first puck drop, had them securing the first goal of the game at 17 seconds in. Pythons worked hard to gain possession and try a quick counter, and at midway through the period, Freeland found the back of the net, drawing the score and getting the Pythons back in the game. The period ended with a 1-1 draw.

With a fresh game, Pythons continued to apply pressure with the defence working hard to shut down Lee Valley’s attempts at the net. At midway through the period, a penalty to Lee Valley put Pythons on the Power Play. With twenty seconds remaining with the player advantage, Quilter found the back of the net off a feed from Howe to take the lead. The period ended with a strong Penalty Kill from the Pythons and leading 2-1.

End to end at the start of the third saw Lee Valley looking to equalise the score again and Python’s attempting a greater lead and at eight minutes into the third, Howe found the back of the net to increase the goal advantage by two. With the game heating up, a string of penalties from the Pythons saw Lee Valley get a two player advantage against the Pythons and in a five-on-three situation, the Vampires capitalised and scored two Power Play goals to even the score out at 3-3. Back to a fresh game Pythons knuckled down, and a few minutes later, Freeland found the back of the net unassisted for her second goal of the game to retake the one goal lead. The remainder of the third saw a few more penalties from both sides before the final buzzer sounded and the Pythons held their lead with a 4-3 win.
