Cobras Battle Hard Against Strong Cambridge Side

Cambridge Kodiaks 4 – 1 Chelmsford Cobras

Chelmsford Cobras travelled up the M11 to Cambridge Ice Arena their latest fixture, facing a strong and experienced Cambridge Kodiaks side.

Having secured an impressive 5–2 victory over Cambridge earlier in the season, the Cobras knew they faced another tough challenge against opposition boasting considerable quality and experience throughout their lineup.

Cambridge started strongly, taking an early lead after just three minutes. However, the Cobras responded immediately, with Leonie Charles finding the net following some great work from Zara Schott to level the score at 1–1.

The home side continued to apply pressure, but the Cobras showed determination, discipline and resilience, working hard defensively and competing for every puck. Cambridge eventually regained the lead late in the opening period to take a 2–1 advantage into the break.

The second period saw Cambridge capitalise on their opportunities, adding two further goals to extend their lead to 4–1. Despite the scoreline, Chelmsford continued to battle, creating opportunities of their own and refusing to allow their opponents an easy game.

The final period highlighted the Cobras' character and fighting spirit. Rather than allowing their heads to drop, Chelmsford continued to push forward, generating 13 shots on goal while keeping Cambridge off the scoresheet for the entire period.

Although the final score finished 4–1 in Cambridge's favour, the result doesn't tell the full story of the Cobras' performance.

Facing a team of Cambridge's calibre, Chelmsford demonstrated tremendous work ethic, resilience and a willingness to compete throughout all three periods. With 32 shots on goal, the Cobras showed they were capable of creating chances against quality opposition, while Keira Waddington delivered a strong performance between the pipes, facing 40 shots over the course of the game.

There were plenty of positives for the Cobras to take away from the encounter. The team's commitment, determination and continued development were evident, and performances like this provide valuable experience as the squad continues to grow and build throughout the season.

The result may not have gone Chelmsford's way, but the effort, attitude and fighting spirit were certainly there. Plenty to build on as the Cobras look ahead to their next challenge.

Final Score: Cambridge Kodiaks 4 – 1 Chelmsford Cobras

Cobras Goalscorer: Leonie Charles (assisted by Zara Schott)
