Huge scoreline for Adders in season opener!

Adders had their season opener this past Sunday as they were on the road to Gosport to take on the Valkyries.

A strong start in the first period saw great offensive movement, and the Adders getting on the scoresheet first with Parker finding the back of the net unassisted and putting the Adders up by one. Adders continued to apply pressure with more shots at the net and Parker would go on to score two more goals in the first, to secure her hat trick and set the Adders up with a great lead advantage in the first. Solent responded a couple of minutes later to get their first of the game and deny the Adders shut out and the period ended Adders leading 3-1.

Heading into the second, the Adders never let their lead slow them down, and just over a minute into the period, Simpson-Davies beat the goalie off a feed from Shapland to reinstate the three goal lead. L. Mansfield followed a few minutes later, finding the back of the net unassisted. The theme of three’s continued and a minute later S. Smith found the third of the period, setup by H. Mansfield. In a similar turn of events from the first, Solent found the back of the net for their second of the game and the period ended Adders leading 6-2.

Just over a minute into the third, and Adders H. Mansfield found the back of the net and kicked off the scoring in the third period. Despite her already acquired hat trick in the first period, Parker continued her momentum and went on to score two more goals in the remainder of the third, with Nicoll logging an assist to put the Adders up by seven. Adders defended the rest of the period extremely well, continuing to look for more goals, whilst denying Solent many solid opportunities at the net, and the final buzzer sounded with Adders winning 9-2.
